About the Artist
Ian Morris is a conductor and bass-baritone specializing in early music, currently based in Chicago IL. As a conductor, Ian has prepared choruses for productions at Northwestern Opera Theater, including Puccini’s La Rondine, and Monteverdi’s L’incorronazione di Poppea, and as well for choral masterworks like Faure’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah at the University of Chicago. He currently serves as assistant conductor of the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel Choir. An accomplished singer, he has recently appeared as a soloist with Music of the Baroque in their Celestial Voices and Holiday Brass & Choral series, as well as the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel Chorus and Orchestra, and the Music Institute of Chicago Chorale. Ian frequently performs with ensembles such as The Crossing, Apollo’s Fire, Chicago Symphony Chorus, New York Philharmonic, Grant Park Music Festival, San Diego Symphony Chorus, Chicago Opera Theater, Stare at the Sun, and Roots in the Sky. Ian was the 2026 bass fellow for the Virginia Best Adams Masterclass at the Carmel Bach Festival in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.
Ian holds a Bachelor of Music Voice & Opera and Computer Science, and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where he studied with Dr. Andrew Megill.
